Our Designatex collection of luxury sheet vinyl flooring features 6 fantastic stone designs, including one of our favourites, Cottage Paving.
This Cottage Paving design replicates the look of cream and blush toned yorkstone tiles in a variety of different sizes laid in a traditional random arrangement. Subtle tone variation and surface texture effect adds to the authentic feel of this design.
We love this cosy yet fresh vintage inspired hallway from the Designatex brochure. Here’s a few pieces we found to help you recreate this look in your own home.
Shabby Chic Storage
This distressed look, ivory vintage drawer set (Camille White 5 Drawer Chest, £143.99 from Dunelm Mill) is the perfect way of incorporating a touch of shabby chic into your living space. You can also add antique effects to your own existing furniture using a matte paint such as Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint, available in a range of soft, pastel shades.
Take A Seat
Keep it simple with a white, solid wood chair which you can dress up with patterned cushions and seat pads. This Ingolf Chair is only £39 from Ikea.
A Bouquet of Florals
Ditsy print floral cushions instantly add a vintage, feminine element to any room. You can mix up the colours and size of your floral patterns to create a more eclectic look, combine small floral prints with simple stripes like the seat cushion in our Cottage Paving hallway.
Cath Kidston is the queen of retro floral designs and this Cath Kidston Antique Rose Bouquet Cushion in Duck Egg (£30 from John Lewis) is a classic choice. However, if you are on a stricter budget, these Helena Springfield “Lottie” cushions in pink and blue from Debenhams are currently on sale!
Mirror, Mirror On The Wall
Mirrors are always used by interior designs to enhance the light in a room and give the illusion of more space. Choose an ornate design like this White Ormolu Highlife Mirror, £39.99 from Dunelm Mill to add some opulent glamour to your room.
According to the rules of feng shui it is best to place a mirror so it doesn’t directly reflect the door as it will bounce away incoming “chi” (often interpreted as money) right back out again!
The Finishing Touches
Notonthehighstreet.com is a great site for finding quirky, hand made and personalised accessories for the home that will make your space more unique.
Add fresh or artificial flowers to this Love Heart Jug (£16.95) to bring a touch of greenery to your hallway.
Little touches like this lavender filled Hanging Heart (£6, on the left) and Canvas Hanging Heart (£3.95, on the right) can really make a room look complete. These would easy to make yourself using fabric offcuts, and scented using essential oils to add a soft fragrance to your room.
