This intricate dogtooth design originally appeared in our Camaro Creative Edge brochure which was full of inspirational ideas on how to create statement floors using Camaro wood and stone effect luxury vinyl tiles. Flooring contractors Maltby’s of Chester were brave enough to take on the challenge of laying this complex floor design, and it was definitely worth all the hard work that went into it!

Two stone effect designs from our Camaro flooring range were used to create this monochrome dogtooth pattern, Black Oilshale 2340 and White Oilshale 2331. These oilshale tiles combine the classic look of marble with a contemporary swirled design and subtle metallic imprint to give the effect of oil on water.

This bespoke stone effect floor was created with some help from Polyflor’s Design Service who used precision waterjet cutting technology to skilfully cut out each dogtooth tile so they would fit together perfectly when laid.

The dogtooth, dogstooth or houndstooth pattern as it is also known, originated in Scotland when it was used in textiles from the 1800s. The motif has since been given a modern update and used by fashion houses Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Moschino over recent years.

We think that this finished floor looks incredible and is a great example of how there are no limits to the imaginative designs you can create with luxury vinyl tiles. For more brave and bold flooring ideas like this one, read our Camaro Creative Edge brochure online.
